#   Supporting Older Adults in Primary Care Dental Practice: A Review of the Seattle Care Pathway

**Summary**: In collaboration with the [National Network for Oral Health Access (NNOHA)](https://www.nnoha.org/), this National Center for Equitable Care for Elders (NCECE) webinar will focus on an evidence-based approach to effectively manage older adults’ oral health needs relative to the complexity of their medical histories and cognitive impairments. Participants will consider patient-centered communication techniques to better anticipate dental challenges and develop a supportive care plan in response.

**After completing this session, participants will be able to**:

- Understand frailty among older adults and its connection to oral health and related behaviors
- Describe the [Seattle Care Pathway’s ](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24446984/)defined levels of dependency in older patients
- Identify how members of the healthcare team can utilize the [Seattle Care Pathway](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24446984/) to help improve the oral health status of older adults
- Consider promising practices from a health center implementation of an older adult dental program
