Supporting Family Caregivers to Provide Oral Palliative Care for Older Adults

Summary: Management of and treatment for cancer and other serious illness may negatively impact the oral health of older adult patients, but severe complications can be better controlled through early palliative care interventions. This webinar will discuss the role of family caregivers in the assessment of oral health concerns in seriously ill patients and at-home symptom management.

After participating in this webinar, participants will be able to:

· Describe the physical and emotional impact of oral health problems for seriously ill older adults

· Identify best practices for assisting older patients with proper mouth care at home

· Collaborate with family caregivers to create action plans for common oral complaints and concerns
