Summary: Restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic greatly increased public awareness of the detrimental effect of social isolation and loneliness—especially for community-dwelling older adults. This webinar will show participants some traditional and innovative approaches to engage and support older patients who are most likely to remain at risk during the Nation’s recovery from the COVID-driven public health crisis.
Learning Objectives:
After participating in this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Explain the evidence-based effects of social isolation and loneliness on physical health and mental health for populations of older adults
- Incorporate best practices for assessing and documenting patient risk factors related to social isolation and loneliness
- Identify, leverage, and in some cases develop community-level supports for older adults at risk for social isolation and loneliness
