Sexual Health and Wellness for LGBTQIA+ Older Adults

About This Webinar Series

People remain at risk for HIV infection as they age, but older adults are less likely to be tested for HIV and could therefore experience a higher incidence of comorbid health conditions.

This two-part webinar series, in collaboration with the National LGBT Health Education Center, explored the importance of discussing safe sexual practices with LGBTQIA+ older adults and explained the value of connecting at-risk individuals to HIV prevention methods like PrEP.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe misconceptions of sexual activity and stigma in all older adults including those who are sexual and gender minorities
  • Recognize the social determinants of health affecting older LGBTQIA+ individuals and how they can impact their care
  • Identify clinical strategies for HIV and STI prevention in a primary care setting and explore screening considerations specific to an older adult population
